Ted Cruz has defended Dick Cheney's infamous 2006 hunting accident, saying, "Look, it happens." The GOP senator made the remark while out hunting himself today, alongside fellow Republican congressman Steve King. King said the incident, in which Cheney accidentally shot a friend while out quail hunting, "doesn't bother me a bit. The way I understood it, he was standing in the wrong place," NBC News reports.

Shooting people was apparently the subject of some discussion during the hunting trip, which took place while Cruz was in Iowa for a GOP fundraiser. "There are a lot of people who would like to shoot me and you, I've noticed," King joked to Cruz, per NBC. "That would be a fundraiser to end them all, wouldn't it?" (More Dick Cheney stories.)
