A truck driver got "quite a shock" this week while driving in Mankato, Minn., and now his dashcam footage shows us all why. ABC News reports that the man, IDed by FOX 9 and the Washington Post as Chad "Cheddar" Mock, was about to go around a bend on a busy street shortly before noon Monday when the rear driver's-side door of the silver car in front of him flew open, and a toddler in a car seat ended up in the middle of the road. Mock's dashcam video shows the silver car brake momentarily, then drive off, the driver seemingly unaware that the car seat with the 2-year-old girl was left behind, lying on its side in the street. An incredulous Mock can be seen running out into the road and righting the car seat with the child, then picking it up, as other cars start to pull over to assist.

"She was very calm, wasn't screaming, she didn't appear hurt," Mock tells Inside Edition of the toddler in the pink coat, adding that the woman he believed to be the mother returned to the scene 15 minutes later on foot. "She was hysterical." Per a City of Mankato release, the child was checked out by ambulance and public safety staff and found to be OK. Luckily for the little girl, per city officials, she was properly fastened in her car seat—the problem appears to be that the car seat itself wasn't properly fastened to the seat in the car. A city public safety rep also tells ABC it's not clear why the car door flew open. Authorities aren't IDing the mother, but they're seeking to charge her with child endangerment and with not properly restraining a child in a vehicle, per the city release.
