There's a reason the 'statue' didn't look like the soccer star

At least he liked the hair. David Beckham went to see a statue of himself before the official unveiling, and was shocked by what he saw, CNN reports. The statue was not at all flattering: "It doesn't really look nothing like me," Beckham said. "I mean, look at my eyes. The only thing that's good is that hair and that's about it." But it wasn't real. James Corden had pranked him; the statue was an imposter. Corden aired a video of the prank, which he said took two months to plan, on his late-night show Monday. The real statue was unveiled by the LA Galaxy, one of Beckham's former teams, without incident, per the Guardian. The day before in downtown LA, Beckham had helped open a soccer field for underprivileged young people. (A similar thing happened to Brandi Chastain, but it wasn't a joke.)
