Politics | Rudy Giuliani Rudy Says He Flubbed on Kerik NYC's ex-top cop expected to be arraigned tomorrow By John Johnson Posted Nov 8, 2007 10:23 PM CST Copied Bernard Kerik, former commissioner of the New York City Police Dept., is expected to be arraigned tomorrow. (AP Photo/Gregory Bull, file) (Associated Press) Rudy Giuliani said today that he made a mistake by not being more rigorous in his background check of Bernard Kerik as reports surfaced that the former top cop of NYC will surrender to authorities tomorrow to face arraignment on corruption and tax-evasion charges. "I made mistakes when I was the mayor ... and I will make mistakes as a president," Giuliani told ABC News. Kerik rose to fame in the wake of 9/11 as he helped Giuliani restore calm to the city. Giuliani recommended to President Bush that Kerik run the Homeland Security department in 2004, but the nomination was withdrawn when questions began to surface about Kerik's reportedly shady financial dealings. Kerik will turn himself to federal authorities tomorrow, the AP reports. Read These Next Iraq's national game of deception brings out the best bluffers.
