World / Mark Owen SEAL Book Disses Obama Account of bin Laden Raid Team wasn't a big fan of president, former SEAL writes By Rob Quinn, Newser Staff Posted Aug 29, 2012 6:10 AM CDT Copied "No Easy Day," written by Bissonnette under the pseudonym Mark Owen, will be released September 4 instead of September 11 as originally planned. (AP Photo/Dutton, File) A book from a former Navy SEAL who took part in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden is looking pretty embarrassing for the Obama administration, reports the AP, which has obtained a copy of Mark Bissonette's No Easy Day. Among the revelations: Bin Laden was shot in the head as soon as he looked out of his bedroom door, according to Bissonnette, contradicting official accounts that say he was shot only after ducking back into the room, possibly to grab a weapon. The official account says bin Laden's body was treated with respect before its burial at sea, but Bissonnette says that the helicopter flight out of the compound was so cramped that a SEAL had to sit on bin Laden's chest. None of the SEALs were fans of President Obama and one of them joked after the raid that they had just gotten him re-elected, writes Bissonnette, though he says they respected him for ordering the raid. When the team met Obama and Joe Biden after the raid, Biden told "lame jokes," reminiscent of "someone's drunken uncle at Christmas dinner," Bissonnette writes. The White House had no comment last night. (More Mark Owen stories.) Report an error
