The Australian radio hosts whose royal hoax led to the apparent suicide of the nurse they tricked are off the air for the time being, reports the Guardian. Sydney station 2Day FM said Mel Greig and Michael Christian were "both deeply shocked" at the death of Jacintha Saldanha. "They will not return to their radio show until further notice out of respect for what can only be described as a tragedy."
Earlier this week, the male-female radio team called up the London hospital where Kate Middleton was being treated and tricked Saldanha into giving them information by impersonating the queen. The mother of two was found unconscious today near King Edward VII hospital. "We as a family are deeply saddened by the loss of our beloved Jacintha," said a family statement. A hospital spokesperson called her an "excellent nurse," reports the Daily Mail. (More Kate Middleton stories.)
