Chandra Levy Case Based on a Lie: Defense

New developments in the Chandra Levy case remain veiled in mystery, but emerging details carry some hefty accusations. In much-redacted court documents and transcripts, defense lawyers for convicted killer Ingmar Guandique say the case against him was "predicated on a lie," USA Today reports. The defense also blasted the prosecution for sitting on doubts about a witness' apparently questionable credibility. The judge in the case says the extensive secrecy is due to "very substantial safety threats," but the expansive protective order he issued caused confusion even as to what defense lawyers could share with Guandique. "I think we're being jerked around,'' complained one in December.
