New Focus in Chandra Levy Case: 911 Call

More new developments in the Chandra Levy murder case: The defense for Ingmar Guandique yesterday asked a judge to order the prosecution to release the tape of a 911 call made by a resident of Levy's apartment building on the day Levy vanished. In it, a person reports hearing a "blood-curdling scream." Police looked into the call when Levy disappeared, but they found no ties to the case, USA Today reports.

But Guandique's lawyers say they didn't have access to the tape or the police radio traffic from the time during his 2010 trial, in which prosecutors asserted that Guandique killed Levy while she was jogging in Rock Creek Park, reports the Washington Post. It's another development for the defense, which has argued that new information prosecutors handed over in December—the contents of which remain unknown—undermine the credibility of key witness Armando Morales, a former Guandique cellmate.
