The news has sparked outrage across social media, the Washington Post reports, though Steubenville's superintendent says the contract is unrelated to his coaching position, which is under a separate contract—he still has two and a half years left on that one. Saccoccia has denied any knowledge of the rape, but a text message from one of the players after the incident indicated he was aware of what had happened and "took care of it."
