Rivers Says He Will Play for Chargers

As far as Philip Rivers is concerned, he is the San Diego Chargers quarterback in Sunday's AFC championship game against the New England Patriots, reports the Associated Press. "The way I felt Monday morning, I didn't think I'd feel as good as I do right now," said Rivers. Coach Norv Turner, however, said Rivers is still doubtful - an official designation in the NFL that means there's only a 25% chance he'll play.

Rivers sprained his right knee in last week's playoff win over the Indianapolis Colts. Earlier yesterday, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported that Rivers' doubtful status was based on a partially torn ACL, as well as the sprained MCL. Billy Volek would play in his place. Meanwhile, star RB LaDainian Tomlinson is probably and TE Antonio Gates is doubtful.
