The Bruins came into Montreal having lost eight straight to the Canadiens, including five already this year, and the 8-2 carnage was about what one would expect. Forlorn Boston keepers Alex Auld and Tim Thomas combined to stop just 16 of Montreal's 24 shots, including two goals by Andrei Kostitsyn. Other Canadian teams were not so lucky:

Ottawa continued its recent run of mediocrity, falling 5-3 to Florida, whose goalie Tomas Vokoun stopped 43 shots.
On the other side of the state, Brad St. Louis (three points) and Tampa Bay edged past Edmonton, 4-3, to stop a five-game home skid.
