Reward for Jewel Heist Clues: $1.3M

An insurer with Lloyd's of London needs a little help in the biggest gem heist in French history—and it's willing to pay up for it. The company is offering $1.3 million for dirt on the robbery from witnesses or insiders, Reuters reports. "A reward of up to 1,000,000 euros pro rata is offered to the first person who provides information which leads to recovery of the goods," says a loss adjuster working with Lloyd's.

"We have to get the jewelry back first, evaluate the value of the recovered jewelry and then, once the police (are) satisfied we're not about to recompense the robbers, we can arrange the payment." The company's statement will appear in several newspapers along with pictures of some of the 72 stolen items. The jewelry came from the collection of the Leviev diamond firm.
