The president of Putnam, Clancy's publisher, reportedly told the NYT that Clancy, whose bestselling books include Patriot Games and The Hunt for Red October, "was a thrill to work with." In an interesting piece in 2011, the Daily Beast noted that Clancy's Dead or Alive, published months before Osama bin Laden was caught, involved Clancy's version of bin Laden being caught under eerily similar circumstances.
