A US immigration judge ruled yesterday that the elder Obama, who dodged deportation for decades and was arrested in 2011 for drunk driving, can remain in the US as a lawful resident. His reasoning: A federal law allows foreigners who arrived in the US before 1972 to get green cards, provided they are "of good moral character," Reuters reports. Onyango Obama, despite his arrest (the charge was ultimately dismissed after probation), pays his taxes and volunteers in his community, the judge pointed out.
