Larry King Does Not Tweet Like the Rest of Us

"I Twitter every day," says Larry King. And referring to it as "Twittering" instead of "tweeting" is not the only thing that makes King's social media habits a bit different from the norm. As he explains to the Washington Post, King tweets by calling (on his flip phone) a number he's set up solely for "Twittering" and leaving a voicemail with his 140-character thoughts. An assistant receives the voicemail and transcribes the sentiment onto King's Twitter account, resulting in such gems as:

• "Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla are here in Washington, I am so excited!"
• "I love to say Sacre Bleu! #itsmy2cents"
• "I love watching penguins walk. #itsmy2cents"
• "How did Noah know there were only two flies on the Arc? #itsmy2cents"
• "Why is it called a watermelon? #itsmy2cents"
• "Do you think I should get a fade haircut? #itsmy2cents"
• "If I love histamines should I stay away from antihistamines? #itsmy2cents"
• ".@BarackObama in LA today. I moved strategically around to avoid traffic jams. Presidents always make LA traffic worse. #LAproblems"

And those are just from the past week. (On Sunday evenings, King speaks directly to his assistant, who types the "Twitters" up immediately with that signature "#itsmy2cents" hashtag.) As the Post notes, King's "mind works in short sentences," and Jerry Seinfeld once observed that King basically "invented Twitter" with his 1980s and 1990s stream-of-consciousness USA Today columns.
