Entertainment | Tupac Shakur Story Linking Diddy to Tupac Shooting a Hoax 'FBI reports' lead back to longtime con man, says Smoking Gun By Nick McMaster Posted Mar 26, 2008 2:13 PM CDT Copied Sean "Diddy" Combs arrives at the 80th Academy Awards at the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles in this Feb. 24, 2008, file photo. (AP Photo/Chris Pizzello, FILE) The Los Angeles Times was duped into reporting that associates of Sean “Diddy” Combs were involved in the 1994 shooting of rapper Tupac Shakur, the Smoking Gun reports. The paper based last week's story on FBI reports fabricated by a long-time con man who has long sought to insinuate himself in the rap world. The alleged reports, made public by their inclusion in a lawsuit brought by James Sabatino against Combs, are nowhere to be found in an FBI database, and share similarities with court filings written by Sabatino while incarcerated for fraud. The Smoking Gun also charges that Sabatino himself is one of the confidential sources who confirmed facts in the bogus reports for the Times.
