(AP Photo/Michael Conroy) His plans for a big announcement Friday of his running mate were thrown off by the attack in Nice, so Donald Trump resorted to a familiar medium instead: On Twitter, he announced that Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will be his vice presidential candidate. It's not a huge surprise given the major outlets had reported as much on Thursday. The move means that Pence will not be running for re-election in his home state, though he wasn't exactly a shoo-in anyway. For Trump, it provides a staunch conservative to shore up his support on the right. Or as Politico puts it, the pick "adds an established, mainstream conservative politician to his unconventional bid for president." Trump will have a press conference Saturday morning at 11am.
