Kellyanne Conway garnered media attention Sunday by accusing CNN's Dana Bash of posing a sexist question—if in a slightly perplexing manner. Politico reports that Bash sparked the exchange on State of the Union by mentioning a now-deleted tweet from George Conway, Kellyanne's husband, which criticized President Trump's behavior as "absurd." Excerpts of their exchange are below, followed by more Sunday talk show buzz:

  • "No. 1 ... that woman who lost the election whose name I never see on TV anymore is wrong that women—I think she said white women have to listen to … the men in their life to form their own political opinions," said Conway. "Wrong again, lady."
  • "No. 2, it's fascinating to me that CNN would go there. But it's very good for the whole world to have just witnessed … that it's now fair game what people's—how people's spouses and significant others may differ with them. I'm really surprised, but very, in some ways, relieved and gratified to see that."
  • Bash denied that her question had anything to do with gender, saying, "I would ask you that if you were a man," to which Conway retorted, "No, you wouldn't." Bash: "A thousand percent, I would." Conway: "No, no, no, no, no."

  • French President Emmanuel Macron appeared on Fox News Sunday ahead of his visit with Trump this week and said fairly nice things about Vladimir Putin, Fox News reports. "I think he’s very strong man, he’s a strong president," Macron said. "He wants a great Russia. People are proud with his policy. He is extremely tough with minorities and his opponents with an idea of democracy, which is not mine."
  • Macron also said he will call for more American military action in Syria. "I will advocate for militarism in front of the Congress," he said, per Politico. "We will have to build a new Syria afterwards."

  • Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on CBS's Face the Nation that he plans to write a $4.5 million check so America can fulfill its financial obligation to the Paris climate accord. "America made a commitment and ... if the government's not going to do it, we all have responsibility," he said, per the Hill. "I'm able to do it. So, yes, I'm going to send them a check."
  • Attorney Alan Dershowitz called authorities' targeting of Trump lawyer Michael Cohen "a very serious threat" on ABC's This Week, the Hill reports. "This is an epic battle for the soul and cooperation of Michael Cohen. And prosecutors have enormous weapons at their disposal."
