Was White Sox Exec Extorting Bonus Money from Dominican Teens?

A source with knowledge of the investigation tells the Chicago Tribune that questions about signing bonuses and how they were distributed to teenage Latin American prospects were behind the firing of David Wilder, the Chicago White Sox senior personnel director, and two of his scouts. Authorities are seeking to determine if Wilder and the scouts were skimming from those payments.

Wilder, with the Sox since 2003, had been in charge of overhauling Chicago's Latin American operations. It's a dramatic downfall for a guy who appeared headed for a high-level executive's role running an MLB team. A former minor-leaguer, Wilder had interviewed for several GM's positions the past few years, writes the Tribune.
