"You're obstructing," an agent told Lander, per the AP. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents were attempting to arrest the man Lander was with, and Lander was demanding to see their judicial warrant, per the New York Times. "I'm not obstructing, I'm standing right here in the hallway," Lander replied. In the end, both Lander and the other man were arrested. See video here. "You don't have the authority to arrest US citizens asking for a judicial warrant," Lander said at one point, referring to his own request. Lander, 55, is a progressive who is running in Tuesday's Democratic primary to be the city's next mayor. Frontrunner Zohran Mamdani condemned the arrest. "This is fascism and all New Yorkers must speak in one voice," he tweeted. "Release him now." (The images that resulted were similar to those from the scuffle involving Sen. Alex Padilla.)
