World | US strikes Iran Iran State TV to Trump: 'You Started It, and We'll Finish It' But how Tehran responds militarily to the US strikes was not immediately clear By John Johnson Posted Jun 21, 2025 9:54 PM CDT Copied The West Wing is lit up as President Trump speaks from the East Room of the White House in Washington, Saturday, June 21, 2025, after the U.S. military struck three sites in Iran. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon) How Iran will respond to the US strikes on three of its nuclear facilities remains unclear, but a commentator on state TV delivered a stark warning, reports the Times of Israel: "You started it, and we'll finish it." The male commentator also declared that every US citizen and soldier in the region is now a "legitimate target." Before the American strikes, Iran warned that it would retaliate if they materialized, reports the BBC. Its analysis notes that Tehran is still capable of inflicting "a considerable amount of damage" despite enduring devastating attacks on its military bases by Israel. One possible target is the US Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain. Another is the Strait of Hormuz, a vital supply route for the world's oil. Iran also could strike neighboring countries it sees as abetting the US, raising the risk of an all-out war in the region. (Trump warned Iran not to retaliate.)
