French authorities have arrested five more people in connection with the daring heist at the Louvre that saw more than $100 million in crown jewels vanish. One of the newly detained suspects is believed to have been at the scene, according to Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau, who spoke to RTL radio. She said DNA evidence links this individual to the crime, as with the two other suspects arrested earlier this week. The remaining four arrested across Paris on Wednesday are considered potential sources of information about how the theft unfolded, Beccuau said. The missing jewels remain unrecovered, reports the New York Times.

Authorities have said two individuals used disc grinders to slice through a window into the museum's Apollo Gallery, stealing the jewels before fleeing on high-powered scooters driven by two accomplices. Prosecutors say the two previously-arrested suspects, charged with organized gang theft and criminal conspiracy, used a truck-mounted electric ladder to access the gallery balcony and then smashed display cases. That leaves a fourth person directly involved in the heist still not caught, per the BBC. Beccuau noted investigators are using DNA, fingerprints, video surveillance, phone data, and other evidence found in searches to build their case.
