(AP Photo/Phil Long) (Associated Press) Mike Tomlin handily won his first game as a Steelers coach—the customary Hall of Fame Game at Canton to open the NFL preseason. Tomlin, only the third Pittsburgh coach since 1969, strikes a profound contrast to his predecessor, Bill Cowher, who was beloved in the Steel City for his paroxysmic on-field displays of emotion. Tomlin kept his passions in check, noting that it was only the preseason: "Maybe I'll be more excited next month. I'm sure I will when we open in Cleveland." Fourth-year signal-caller Ben Roethlisberger, coming off a nightmare injury-ravaged 2006, was crisp, passing for 73 yards in the opening drive.
