(AP Photo) An Alabama congressman says 17 of his colleagues, plus a senator, are socialists who are pushing President Obama too far leftward, the Birmingham News reports. “Some of the men and women I work with in Congress are socialists,” Republican Spencer Bachus declared yesterday—though he wouldn’t name any beyond Vermont independent Bernie Sanders. Bachus addes that he has “some hope” for Obama, saying, “He’s a better listener than George W. Bush. He tries to get ideas from people.” A spokesman for Sanders, meanwhile, agreed that the senator had socialist sympathies, albeit along the lines of Scandinavia’s well-educated, healthy, low-poverty variety: “It’s a different brand of socialism than the congressman is probably thinking of.” Read These Next Thieves pulled off a daring jewel heist at the Louvre.
