Close another chapter in the Marion Barry files. Federal prosecutors are dropping stalking charges against the former DC mayor and current councilman, reports the Washington Post. The move follows a bizarre chain of events in which his ex-girlfriend flagged down US Park Police late Saturday to accuse Barry, 73, of stalking her.

Barry and Donna Watts-Brighthaupt had set off earlier in the day for a trip to Delaware but got into an argument over lunch and returned to DC. The US Attorneys Office said it was dropping the case after a review of the evidence. Barry, meanwhile, remains on probation for failing to pay federal taxes.
