A shocking nine days before the NFL season begins, the Jacksonville Jaguars have decided to cut ties with their presumed starting quarterback Byron Leftwich. According to Sports Illustrated, the Jaguars will be announcing that they will either release or trade the former first round pick and turn to back up David Garrard as their starter.

The move comes after several games featuring poor play by Leftwich, who was presumed to be trying to re-establish himself as a star. With little time remaining before the start of the season, there will be a relatively small market for the player, with the Kansas City Chiefs the probable favorite.
