(AP Photo/Manuel Balce Ceneta) The leader of the free world may have been masquerading as a frumpy suburban dad and handing out dried fruit, but it was still a pretty cool treat for a couple thousand DC-area kids who went trick-or-treating at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave last night. With the first lady dressed as a leopard, President and Michelle Obama handed out White House M&Ms, White House-shaped sugar cookies, and the aforementioned dessicated fruit. A brass band in skeleton costumes pumped out gypsy music as makeup artists from a Chicago theater company painted faces and a Rhode Island farmer showed off his 1300-pound pumpkin, reports the Washington Post. Some 2,000 schoolkids chosen at random happily passed through the White House gates, but, professed one 9-year-old: "I'm not a fan of dried fruit."
