We needed fairer data plans

Andrew Munchbach has given some thought to AT&T's new billing plans and come to one inescapable conclusion: "AT&T, your improved data plans suck." It's not the lower data caps—he understands the principle, even if he doesn't like it—it's the "dismal" way AT&T applies the charges: Using 2GB costs $150 if you're on on the Data Plus plan but $25 if you're on the Data Pro? That's especially "infuriating" because AT&T won't automatically switch customers if it's in their best interest.

His suggestions: "200 MB for $15/month (for most BlackBerry users and people who have a smartphone and don’t know what to do with it), $20/month for 1 GB/month (good for most), and $30 for 5/GB (for the high end data hog)." Also, how about some rollover credits? He recommends reading this from Reuters and this from Gizmodo for more details.
