Van der Sloot Lawyer: I'll 'Paralyze' Court Process

Joran Van der Sloot's lawyer plans to appeal every ruling that goes against his client and go over the head of the Peruvian justice system if he thinks he needs to. His plan is to "paralyze the process," Maximo Altez tells CNN. He also says his client, a Dutch citizen being held in solitary confinement in Lima, is "depressed."

Claiming his rights were violated, Van der Sloot has attempted to retract his confession to the murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez, but a judge denied the claim Friday. Altez says he plans an appeal and will take the case beyond the Peruvian Supreme Court; he has his sights set on the Costa Rica-based Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
